Welcome!

Arkansas Students

Classroom Central

Welcome to Thompson Driving! We’ve successfully educated Arkansas drivers since 1953. We want to commend you on your decision to put your child through our intensive Driver Education Class. This program is designed to give each student the knowledge of current Arkansas road laws and an understanding that every decision has a consequence; good or bad. We are so glad you chose to allow us to instill these lifesaving skills in your child and we are here to serve you.

Class Times – Please refer to our website for the specific dates and times of our classes. Please arrive on time.

Technology Requirement –  Each student MUST BRING an internet-capable & fully charged laptop, tablet, or smartphone to class each day. Various class materials, homework and activity assignments, daily quizzes, and the final examination will be administered online. It is recommended that your student use a laptop or tablet, but a smartphone is adequate. If you do not have one of these devices, please contact us so alternate arrangements can be made.

COVID-19 Restrictions – Based upon current Arkansas Department of Health directives and the Governor’s mandate, we are no longer requiring the wearing of masks in our facility and we do not require students to be vaccinated nor will we ask about a student’s vaccination status. Students who wish to wear masks while in class and/or to be vaccinated are welcome to do so. We feel that decisions concerning masking and vaccinations should be a personal choice and best left to the individual student and their families. Harassment of a student based upon the student’s decision(s) concerning masking and vaccination will not be tolerated. We have reduced our classroom capacity to allow for increased distancing between students and we continue to clean our facility in accordance with CDC guidelines. We will continue to encourage students to observe social distancing and good hygiene practices. Students who exhibit flu-like symptoms are asked not to attend class and to contact us so we can make alternate attendance arrangements (i.e., allowing the student to participate virtually, make-up day, etc.).

Check-In & Waiver– Parents are not required to accompany students during check-in on the first day as long as the student has a signed student contract/waiver. Blank waivers/contracts are available should you need one.

Parent/ Guardian Orientation – Parent orientation will be held on the first day of class during the first thirty minutes of the session. You’re welcome to attend in-person, however seating is limited so you may prefer to attend virtually using Zoom meeting. A link for the meeting has been provided on this page under “Zoom Meeting Link.” and it’s as easy as participating from the parking lot via smartphone. This will be an informative time for you to meet the instructor, learn what to expect from the classroom course, and ask any questions that you might have. The instructor is also available for in-person meetings before and after each class session.

Medical or Physical Conditions – We strive to do our best to accommodate every individual and their personal needs. Please let us know if your child has any medical or physical conditions upon arrival to class. Include any allergies, medication requirements, or special testing needs.

Cell Phone, Smart Watch and Earbud Policy – Students will not be allowed to access their cellphones at any time during class (except to take examinations). Smart Watches and earbud are not permitted. Please leave these devices at home. If you need to get in touch with your child, you may call or come to the office.

Materials – Students will be provided with a student workbook, pen, and highlighter. Feel free to bring to class other relevant materials for note-taking or to use as study aids. Additional materials such as infographics, study guides and homework assignments will be accessed from this web page.

Scheduled Breaks – Each class session includes several breaks. We offer snacks and drinks for purchase at this time or they are welcome to bring their own from home. Items are sold for $1.00 a piece in the classroom. Due to COVID-19 concerns please provide your child with exact change.

Make-up Policy – To meet certificate requirements, all course hours have to be obtained as well as an 80% or higher on the final exam. We understand things come up. If a student misses a class day, they will have to make up that particular class day during another class session offered this summer before receiving their certificate of completion. They can still take the final with their class if they feel ready to do so, or can take the final upon completion of their makeup class. Please, contact your instructor the office to make arrangements for makeup options.

Your instructor for this course is Robert Bennett. He is our Senior Instructor and can be reached at robert@thompsondriving.com. Please email Robert with your student’s name and the preferred email address that the student wants to use to receive test links, homework assignments, etc.

Please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate this opportunity to work with your family.

Sincerely,

Brock Thompson
